WVU’s Office of Disability Services is “under the umbrella” of the President’s Office for Social Justice. ODS continues to provide a number of vehicles of support for WVU students, from interpreters to to disability van transportation to specific accommodations to academic coaching (in its newest program, Mountaineer Academic Program, or MAP).
ODS provides assistance to over 1000 students. These students are around us on campus all the time.
One WVU student, Julie Goldberg, recently told her story. Goldberg, a native of Pittsburgh and a women’s studies major, communicates with the help of cochlear implants, sign language and lip reading.
